Card management system migration for a tier-1 European bank
A tier-1 European bank needed to migrate its card management system onto a modern platform without disrupting live card issuing and authorisation.

The challenge
A leading European bank's card management system ran on an established high-availability transaction platform that needed to move to a newer, more sophisticated version.
The system underpinned live, mission-critical card operations, so the migration had to proceed without disrupting cardholders or day-to-day issuing and acquiring processing. The bank needed a partner who understood both the target platform and the operational realities of a live card estate.
Our approach
Run Ventures's payments migration team worked as total-system integrator on the engagement, planning a phased cutover rather than a single big-bang switch. We coordinated closely with the platform vendor throughout, aligning platform expertise with Run Ventures's own migration methodology and tooling.
Risk mitigation was built into the migration plan from the outset, with contingency and fallback provisions designed in alongside the cutover sequence itself.
The outcome
The migration was delivered as a stable, controlled transition, kept at an optimal level of risk for a live card estate. The methodologies and risk-mitigation practices developed on this engagement continue to inform how Run Ventures approaches subsequent platform migrations for banking clients.
